Frequently asked questions

Here are some of the most asked questions we get from our patients. Click or tap on a question to reveal the answer, if your question isn’t included in this list please contact us and we will be happy to help.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

When you arrive, the front door will be open so please just come on in and take a seat in the reception area. We will be together for about an hour. This will include a thorough case history where I will listen to your story and try to understand your concerns. We will then work through a thorough physical examination, which will be tailored to your needs, and we will aim to discover the nature of the problem. This visit also almost always involves some treatment, if appropriate for you and you want to proceed

Will I have to get undressed?

No. I can almost always work through/around clothing. It helps if you can wear clothes that are easy to move around in. I also have a selection of shorts ranging in size from XS to XL for people to borrow when necessary.

What can I expect at follow-up appointments?

These appointments start with catching up on how things have been since the previous session and addressing any questions you may have. From here, each session is tailored to the individual but typically we will continue with some hands-on chiropractic care and review/progress any home exercises/lifestyle changes you are working on.

How many appointments will I need?

This is absolutely tailored to each individual. We will progress one visit at a time until we reach your goal. At the end of each appointment I will ask you if you would like to book another. If you do want to continue, I will advise you but we will decide together how long to leave it before your next appointment. You can stop and re-start chiropractic care here as many times as you would like.

What if my problem needs further investigation?

I am able to refer people to the chiropractic college in Boscombe for X-Ray, Ultra-sound and MRI scans in order to aid with diagnosis. These scans are all paid for privately by you, directly to the college. If we feel that your problem needs further investigation by your GP, I am very happy to write to them

Can I bring my children to my appointment?

Yes, you are very welcome to bring your children. They will be in the room with us during your appointment. I have a selection of toys to help keep them entertained.

Is there parking available?

There is plenty of free on-street parking on St. Albans Avenue. There is usually a space available on the driveway but we reserve this space for people in acute pain or those not able to walk easily.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you can’t make or need to change an appointment, that is absolutely no problem. I ask people to give me 24hrs notice where possible and I do charge the full fee for missed appointments.
